The Nintendo Switch released in 2017 as a successor to the Nintendo Wii U.

Rumors of the Nintendo Switch started to appear around 2015 with the name NX. In April of 2016, Nintendo announced in an investor conference that the Nintendo Switch or NX at the time would release in March of 2018.

Similar to it's predecessor the Wii U, play your console docked from your TV or handheld but unlike the Wii U the Switch is able to play from anywhere in handheld mode.

Dominance

The Nintendo Switch has sold over 150 million units which makes it second best selling console of all time after the PlayStation 2 which had over 160 million sales worldwide.

Roster

The Nintendo Switch library is one of the largest and most diverse libraries out of any console with close to 5000 titles and counting.

The most successful titles include Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey.

The Nintendo Switch has the largest library out of any Nintendo video game system all time.

Legacy

The Nintendo Switch 2 has been officially announced in 2025 and the Nintendo Switch will soon be entering the end of it's life cycle after pushing strong sales for 8 years.
