Nintendo Wii
2006
The Wii was first mentioned as code name "Revolution" in E3 2004 by Satoru Iwata, and then formally revealed at E3 2005 as "Revolution". Eventually the official "Wii" name would be revealed a month prior to E3 2006.

The Nintendo Wii was released on November 19, 2006, in North America, and eventually across most the other regions on December of 2006. The Wii was Nintendo's riskiest console home console release since the NES in the sense that it completely redefined how you played and interacted with games.
New Age Tech
Nintendo had previously taken plenty of risks with devices such as the Virtual Boy but the Wii was it's most calculated risk.
The controller for the Wii was groundbreaking and enabled for an enhanced and immersive interactive experience that no other device offered at that time.

Waving your controller around in your hand now meant that your character in game could replicate your same exact movements and therefore created immersion unlike any other before this device.
Games
The Wii had a solid lineup of games that remain iconic to this day such as Wii Sports, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and Mario Kart Wii.
Legacy
The Wii will forever go down in history as the video game console that appealed to the largest variety of gamers from all age groups and made gamers stand up out of their couch and get active and immersed physically in their games.

The Wii music composed by Totaka remains a pop culture hit and is continually heard throughout social media fandom as it is hands down one of the biggest part of the Wii's legacy that we still talk about to this day!
